I've just experienced a week with only one job.
Oh, how I've missed free time. And sleeping in. Ahhh...

Back to bustle of new menus and new restaurants this week. Though I've enjoyed my semi-jobless week, I'll be elated to work for these guys. In case you missed it  my new job. Music + Food= happiness. (I will still be at Wild Abandon as long as my endurance holds out, biking between jobs and the new crazy hours I'll keep. Come in for brunch folks, seriously! It's the best in town, and I'm not just bragging.)

Ever since I was in high school I've never liked my name. Sure, it's pretty, but I had many problems with it. For one, it's way too popular. It seems everywhere I go there are at least three Sarah's. Second, it means Princess. Have I ever acted like a princess?.... well, I don't think I ever have, but feel free to prove me wrong. Third, it's biblical. Anyone whose known me since high school knows how much that drives me crazy. Wife of Abraham. Ugh...

So, I've asked a few friends of mine to come up with a suitable nickname. I wanted something that would express who I am and my goals and philosophies. I wanted something that also started with an S, so that it would be easier to assimilate. Here were the tops runners:

Saffron: the world's most expensive spice, red in color and bleeds yellow coloring into food as it's cooked. Also very modern "gothique". I picked this one personally; no one seemed to like it.

Surasundari (or, as I would spell it Surasindari): Meaning Divine Beauty; a tribute to my philosophy of Twilight and Beauty. Decided it's too long. As an abreivated form it would be Sura, which is close enough to Sarah but better.

Salome: known as the harlot, daughter of Babylon, who asked for John the Baptist's head on a platter. Also, my beloved poet Wilde wrote an adaptation, in which Salome is pursued by the King and the beggar alike. .. uh, yeah. I could totally do that.

Shekina: Wife of God, representing the duality of Divinity. Sounds too much like Shekira for me, though.

So far, Salome is the leader. I will, however, answer to any of the above. And I'm not legally changing my name, this is just for my close friends and myself. I've never fit into my given name, and now I've changed it to something fitting. "I will kiss thy mouth, Ikonnian, I will kiss thy mouth..."

As usual for me being lazy, I've not written. I know, I can hear all your cries and demands now. Please, I beg, give me a few more days. Maybe even later on tonight, you never know....

What song shall I entertain you with on this night when Luna hides her Glory from us...

"Bleed no reflection
Upon the waters that you fear
Make things happen

Accept no resignation
For some life has been cruel
You have set the mood

Thinking about you... Luna

Lay the serpent's egg
In this worlds of make believe
And make things real

My seed of a lunacy
Was a sign made to resist
A mood set from birth

Thinking about you... Luna

Show me, your moon burns
Take me as the moon burns
The freezing Moon
Making things real for me
The killing Moon
Making things happen for me

Luna - All above
Wound of light in the enemy skies
Make things happen for me

On the eve of self destruction
On the eve of all can be... Thinking about you"
"Luna", Moonspell,  "Memorial".

Yes, my love, I am thinking about you.

Twilight and Beauty,
Saraid

Thanks, I like that one too. I have decided to go with Salome, however. I like it very much.

Thanks for your input, my dear!
